Where can I get a good beer?

If you're anything like me, you’re watching the clock for what you deem to be an acceptable time to crack a beer after a long day. My personally appropriate time is 5pm - and if I’m not home - I’m counting down the moments for my few minutes of sanity in a bottle. Before relocating back to Altoona in 2017, I traveled (very) frequently and often had a hard time scrolling through Yelp or Google to find a local watering hole.

I have a few local favorites in Altoona that are in close proximity to our properties that you should check out while you’re in town!

Mike’s Court (1908 5th Street, Altoona, PA 16601) is always an easy choice for me when I’m close to UPMC Altoona. The atmosphere is relaxed, there’s always a basketball game on tv, and the staff is kind and let’s me alone when they can tell I need it. The only caveat is that they are cash only, but with $2 happy hour drafts and their signature roast beef sandwich at $5.. you can probably find enough cash buried under your carseat the cover a few drinks and an awesome meal.
